  • Walking the dog, ehm the cat!

    17 January, 2016 / 0 Comments

Winter has well and truly hit! Today it was roughly -14°c. ❄⛄ Those sort of temperatures tend to make the hairs in in my nose freeze to ice lol! It turns out at least one of the cats who occupie the house with us, actually likes the snow! Who would have thought? Ragnar is also pretty good at acting like a dog, ie I can take him for a walk..he followed me around, bounding through the snow, sat down and waited whilst I snapped some photos of him, and even tasted some of the white stuff.. 🐯😊

Happy New Year! Hope your holiday celebrations were satisfactory <3 I had a very quiet & peaceful Christmas, but I did definitely miss the snow, because there was not one flake of the white stuff on the ground! In fact, I think it was about 8+ degrees. And I supposedly live in Sweden…?! Well, in the last few days plenty of snow has fallen, so today me & the hubby took a long walk with the cameras, yay! If you recognize the name “Ramlösa” it’s probably because you have had a bottle of the mineral water with the same name. The water was originally sourced here, from underground wells. People…

As you might have noticed, I have been making some well needed changes to this page lately! I apologize if that means that the page has been slow to load, or if some functions are still missing. I will also be adding some more features & pages, including list of services and prizing, and my aim is to focus more on the blog and write about photography and design. A while back, I also decided to change my logo, and right now this one with the feather is what I have settled on! What do you think? It feels modern and a bit more..me? 😛 Don’t forget to order your…

    10 November, 2015 / 0 Comments

Do you remember the Christmas calender show “The Mystery at Greveholm” (Mysteriet på Greveholm)?  It was the 1996 version of a long standing Swedish tradition, and it was actually set at the castle of Hjularöd in south Sweden. In the mid 90’s I was in my late teens, and therefore not particularly interested in the TV-calender that year. I think I managed to watch a couple of episodes though! OK, so if you’re not Swedish, I wouldn’t think you know about this popular Swedish Christmas tradition. It is a TV show that is made new every year, along side other advent celebrations, as a count down to Christmas. The “Mystery…

    24 October, 2015 / 0 Comments

Per request comes a tutorial on how to buy my prints on Fine Art America! “FAA” is a print-on-demand site, where thousands of photographers & artists showcase their art, and sell their prints. The prints are shipped directly from FAA:s printer to the customer, and you can buy just about any kind of art that you would like to hang on your wall! (Note: if you live in Europe, your art will now be shipped from the U.K rather than America!) First, visit my page on Fine Art America and select an image you like: Sophie Mcaulay Click on the image if you want to see it larger.    …

  • Waiting for snow?

    17 January, 2015 / 0 Comments

I am a great believer in seasons. I like it when a season has it’s corresponding weather, so right now it should really be winter, at least in the northern hemisphere!? But where is it? We are going towards the end of January and so far we have had only one day of snow here, in the south of Sweden. It was a wee dusting of the white stuff, so not much at all! Some people do not like snow and especially not when it’s cold – but I enjoy it. I am asthmatic, so cold weather for me is like a holiday for my lungs ha ha! So, while…

Doors. They are made from wood, iron, copper, stone, glass..and I love them! ♥ They can say something about the building to which they belong. I am a complete sucker for doors and windows alike, and always make a point of snapping a few photos of some wherever I go. But today I’m just going to show you some of the many doors I have photographed. What do I love about them? They come in so many shapes and forms, and can speak volumes about who lives on the other side – or what the building is used for, if it’s a public building. Who or what is on the…

    11 January, 2015 / 0 Comments

For eight years I´ve been doing stock photography! I started sending my photos to picture agencies and hoped for a sale or two, and now it’s been an incredible eight years?! So, eight years. That’s quite long, I guess?! I have learned a lot about photography and editing in this time, but I think there is always more to learn, especially when it comes to something so creative and individual. In stock it is important to be creative, and to stand out. There is always a demand for new types of images, depending on what’s popular. I tend to do my own thing, but sure, among the thousands of images…

…to photograph a kitten, a very fast kitten! I’ve been somewhat invisible from here for quite some time. Now I think I’m back! Time to recap the shoots from this past year and to start of I’m posting today about the joy of photographing a kitten. Meet Ragnar (my husband really likes the the History Channels “Vikings”), the Viking cat. OK, so he is not an actual Viking, but merely a gorgeous ginger kitty acquired from a friend who’s two cats decided to litter at the same time. A new kitty in the house means taking photos, which is great! Except cats are notoriously difficult to take pictures of.  Well,…

  • Things that appear by accident in your photographs..

    17 March, 2013 / 0 Comments

Castles for birds Sometimes photographs capture things you didn’t know existed, small details in a landscape or on a building that you missed when you were too busy looking through the viewfinder for the perfect composition. This happened to me when I went to dig up some old photos from Istanbul to edit. And there it was; something I had never heard of and never took any notice of on my visit to the grand old city; birdhouses on buildings! Now, normally I suppose birdhouses are not unusual in any sort of way, but I’m used to seeing them in trees or in the garden, not 60 meters up on…
